By Cecilia Gordillo August 10, 2020 0 comments

If you're looking to quit smoking and start vaping, look no further! Ill!HQ is here to help. When you decide to start vaping there can be an overwhelming number of options to choose from. Picking what type of e-liquid to use is one of the most important choices to make sure your vaping experience is as enjoyable as possible. Hopefully, we can help explain some of the different options and make your decision easier. Here are the differences between nicotine salts and freebase!

Nicotine Salts

Nicotine salts are relatively new, and they allow you to vape higher strength nicotine without getting a rough throat hit. This also means you are getting more for your money. Nicotine Salts are becoming extremely popular and the number of new flavors continues to increase every day.  The popular Juul is a nicotine salt based product. Nicotine salts are a different way of preparing nicotine for consumption. Nicotine salts are great if you're trying to keep it discreet. The nicotine salt devices are smaller, less flashy, and easily concealed in a pocket or bag. However, you won't get that traditional large smoke puff and vape tricks with nicotine salts. The experience of consuming nicotine salts is similar to smoking a traditional cigarette. So if you are newly trying to quit nicotine salts may be a great option for you. Nicotine salts are a great way to get a large amount of nicotine without consuming tobacco in a traditional cigarette. With nicotine salts, you don't have to vape as often since you are consuming a larger amount of nicotine on each hit. So if you love that light-headed feeling, but don't want to be hitting your vape constantly, nicotine salts might be the best option for you!

Freebase

Freebase is a method that has been around since the 60s. Freebase means that the nicotine is in its purest form when compared to other nicotine derivatives. Until recently free base was the only type of nicotine that was able to be put into the e-juice liquid. Freebase can be enjoyable and was very popular but, it does have its disadvantages. It is hard to increase the nicotine content to high levels in freebase due to the fact that it causes extremely harsh throat hits that are unenjoyable. This could possibly be discouraging to those who are new to vaping from smoking due to the fact that they can't get a large amount of nicotine consumption that they are used to from smoking. Freebase comes in a larger vaping device and can produce a large amount of smoke. It is not ideal for pods are smaller devices due to the thickness of the freebase liquid.

What's The Difference

From a vaping perspective, the biggest difference between freebase nicotine and nicotine salts is the vaping experience you get from each. One thing you will notice between these two is the harshness felt from the higher nicotine levels. Since freebase contains a higher pH level it causes the e-liquid to be harsher. Whereas, salt nicotine has a lower alkalinity level which causes a smoother hit making vaping more nicotine possible. Additionally, the way the two travel through your body is different, since benzoic acid is added to salt nicotine it is able to travel through your body faster. This makes it more readily available and effective than traditional freebased e-liquids. When deciding between nicotine salt and freebase ask yourself what kind of device you want, how much nicotine is right for you, and what kind of flavors do you want. Keeping these three factors in mind will help you make your decision about choosing an e-liquid.
